1. 1689 Was Plato A Feminist?

This paper will prove that Plato did have some fundamental ideas of feminism within his philosophy for his time, although these ideas themselves were inconsistent within his works. Thus, I hesitate to say that Plato was a feminist by our current late twentieth century standards. He was not. Part one of the paper will discuss Plato's so-called feminism, while part two will illustrate the inconsistencies in his treatment of women. 11.5 pgs. 28 f/c. 10b.

2. 4134 Technology and its Discontents.

Ursula Franklin, Nicholas Negroponte and Peter Drucker explore different facets of the world of technology and its implications for human social and political development. In this paper, I will address how each of these authors approach technology - and, in particular, modern information technologies such as computers - in an attempt to critically identify their most valuable arguments and insights. In this analysis, although all three have undeniable points of interest, it is clear that if the basis of our judgement is knowledge and insight into computer technology then Negroponte is, far and away, the most important of the theorists. While, as will be seen, I may agree with various points of the other writer's arguments, the weight of Negroponte's "informed" opinion tilts the balance of my analysis in his favour. 6 pgs. This essay will examine the issue about life and abortion witth differing thinkers, John Noonan and Mary Anne Warren, who both argue different understandings of what it means to be human. With this dialogue established, I will examine the issue from a Kantian perspective and argue that ethical theory should base itself on a consistent understanding of what is means to be human.
